A Classic Black Tie Wedding at the Fairmont DC

When your relationship revolves around DC, and all the classic, monumental spots–it’s only fitting to make sure you bring every element into your wedding day. Including some WMATA Smart Trip cards for the DC Metro System, which the bride had to teach the groom how to use on their first date.

From their proposal near the Washington Memorial and White House, and a proposal celebration at the Hay-Adams Hotel with amazing views (and one of my personal favorite bridal suites, hint, hint!), this couple chose to bring share all of the classic DC tourist spots with their guests with a custom watercolor invitation suite. An envelope liner with Jefferson Memorial surrounded by the Tidal Basin cherry blossoms, to a full map showing the National Mall from Lincoln Memorial to the Capitol–with all the details of the wedding week festivities.

Their cocktail hour was in the Fairmont DC’s courtyard, and was such a perfect setting–made even better with live music, and passed hors d’oeuvres. Even their dog, an adorable Corgi who is becoming quite the star on Instagram, Puff Pastry, made his debut alongside their cake, by Fluffy Thoughts.

The Bride’s Custom Veil

The bride was adorned with a custom veil from Etsy, that had embroidered cherry blossoms all over. It was such an elegant and stunning addition to her satin off-the-shoulder gown. In a classic nod to the amount of walking one does all around the city–she also chose to wear custom designed Chucks, a brilliant idea and one her feet I’m sure loved throughout the evening of fun dancing.

A Night Full of Dancing and Laughter

The couple chose to do a unique exit from their reception, which took place inside the Colonnade at the Fairmont, with their guests sending them off the sound of kazoos! It was such a fun wedding party and the perfect celebration to the start of this couples married life together. I wish we could do it again, and again, and again!
