Patriotic DC Wedding at the Mayflower Hotel
Red, White, and Blue, with a touch of added sports love by these two Capitals hockey fans, made their wedding a memorable and fun wedding for the Kate Grace Photography team. Sydney & Garrett had such a level of joy that radiated throughout the entire day, and a fun surprise for guests at the end of the night, making it truly a night to remember.
As high-school sweethearts and local to the DC area, it was the details everywhere that you looked that gave their out-of-state friends, a glimpse into their lives here in DC. And subsequently, why they are so proud to call it home. With custom cookies at each place, depicting the Capitol or other element of DC, to tables named after some legendary spots in the District of Columbia–who else wouldn’t want the chance to sit at the US Supreme Court? Or the Federal Reserve?
Glamorous Bridal Details and a Generational Love
One of the things that stood out to me, was Sydney’s grandma–what a spunky and fun woman. The bride had her involved in so much of the wedding process, it was so sweet to see the multiple generations surrounding Sydney in her bridal suite. Sydney’s dress and hair style was like they were directly out of the Vogue magazine–with her Chanel jewelry and accessories completing her high glam bridal look.
After their first look, the bride and groom chose to read private vows, and do portraits of just them at Lincoln Memorial. Because it was just the small team of myself and one videographer, we were able to quickly work around the big holiday crowds which are inevitable at the DC Memorials surrounding the 4th of July in DC.
With the elegant chandeliers, and mirrored ballroom, the Mayflower Hotel was such a great backdrop to their ceremony. As guests were handed champagne while they took their seats, a string trio played in the background. After the I Do’s, guests were ushered into the Chinese Ballroom, for canapés and the signature drink. Meanwhile, Sydney & Garrett took a quick peak at the Reception space, and a sweet private first dance.
No one had any clue, but Sydney & Garrett had a plan to amp up the party, with the Capitals mascot, Slapshot, making a late night appearance to show off his dance moves. Therefore, it is safe to say–he was well received and gained some instant fans that day.
What a wonderful couple and day. Congratulations Sydney & Garrett!
