Perfect timing for a DC Cherry Blossom Engagement

Prior to being engaged, Jordan & Laura dated for 7 years and spent 5 of those years in DC, so naturally had plenty of time to think of where they’d want to do their spring engagement photos in DC. When they had first visited the Cherry Blossoms back in 2015, she knew this would be the PERFECT spot. Jordan had always dreamed about being in the nation’s capital after college, surrounded by all the architecture and rich history, and has always been obsessed with the spring cherry blossoms season. There’s something about the way the National Mall looks with the pink hue of the cherry blossoms that creates a romantic ambiance. Ever since then, Laura knew this would be the perfect place for their engagement photo session.

Jordan proposed on Laura’s birthday while on a 7-day Caribbean cruise, right at sunset and right on the top deck of the ship. Because cherry blossom season had already passed right when they got engaged, they decided to wait until the following year to officially get the engagement photos done, at the perfect Spring DC engagement location, right by the Tidal Basin with the monuments in view.

Choose outfits that complement your engagement session location

You’re in luck–so many colors complement the cherry blossoms. Laura & Jordan had given quite a bit of thought into what to wear, and they selected outfits that were very complementary to the blossoms for sure! They were the inspiration for compiling ideas to help guide in knowing what photographs best. Laura selected a long, blush colored gown to resemble the pink hue of the cherry blossoms. Jordan had selected a navy suit with pink tie. 🙂 Classy and classic.

Your engagement session is special!

Despite entering such an uncertain time, they were able to share one special memory that they’ll reflect on for the rest of their lives. And this is why I believe engagement sessions are such a vital part of the Kate Grace Photography wedding experience.

Warning, your pet will steal the show

A question I always get is if couples can bring their pets, and YES, absolutely! I’m all for including the most important member of your little family, we just will need to add a bit of logistics so that we can have some photos both with and without your pet. Their rescue dog Boomer quickly became the highlight of the morning! He looked so dapper in his bow tie and was smiling ear to ear during their session.
