Liz & Charles’ wedding in DC had a historic and classic backdrop for their ceremony and reception. The bride was giving us full Jackie O vibes, and she embodied the elegance and class of her doppelgänger in a satin sleeveless gown, with a cathedral length veil.
Historic DC Wedding Venue
With a mix of vintage and modern elements, this wedding was one full of history. The Daughters of the American Revolution building is located right across the lawn of the White House, and its portico terrace boasts views of the Washington Monument that are as classic as they come.
The wedding ceremony was held in the O’Byrne Gallery, featuring barreled ceilings, a herringbone hardwood floor, and original rams-head sconces. Following the ceremony, guests were led to the inner portion of the DAR, the Library. This was such a unique experience for everyone–sipping a cocktail while perusing classical literature!
Museum Wedding Portraits
Although a DAR wedding alone will give you plenty of portrait spots around the venue, I love when couple allocate additional time for portraits at various locations beyond the venue too. Portraits in the museum? Yes please. The National Gallery of Art boasts classics of art, along with alcoves and staircases to enhance any image taken there. I love when couples want to be creative and go beyond the usual portrait locations of DC. Engagement or wedding day–we’ll be sure to have fun!
