Madeline and Noel’s Wedding at InterContinental The Wharf

Noel and Madeline were married at the InterContinental DC – The Wharf, a gorgeous hotel right on DC’s waterfront. This is probably one of my favorite hotels for weddings in DC! With floor to ceiling windows in most of their spaces and a beautiful marina right out front, there are so many great spots for photos. Another thing I love about hotel weddings is that you’re always able to get ready right on site! Not having to worry about transportation can really help your whole morning go smoothly. 

After we took some getting ready photos in each of their hotel suites, we headed outside to have Madeline and Noel’s first look. When I spoke with Madeline after the wedding she said that this was one of her favorite parts of the whole day. For so many couples – myself included – spending such an important morning apart from your partner feels really strange! I love that first looks allow couples to see each other in a private space and get out their wedding jitters before the ceremony begins.

Madeline and Noel’s ceremony was very unique and really felt like a reflection of the two of them. During the ceremony they passed around their wedding bands to their guests, as part of a ring-warming ceremony. This tradition, originally from Ireland, allows guests to make a wish or say a short prayer over the rings before the couple says their vows. They also had a friend “What A Wonderful World”, which was a truly special and unforgettable part of the day. 

Getting to know these two over the course of almost two years was absolutely incredible, and I’m so grateful to have photographed their special day! Madeline and Noel – thank you so much for working with me and I hope I can continue to photograph important milestones for you!
