Charlie and Holly’s Destination Wedding in DC

When you have two families from different countries–the best way to unite, is in the middle! Charlie is from the UK, and Holly from Texas–so DC made the perfect spot to gather and celebrate their wedding day. Charlie and Holly were married at the National United Methodist Church in DC, a gorgeous cathedral in northwest DC. Cathedral weddings just hit differently. With gorgeous windows, pillars, not to mention a gorgeous backdrop as you make your church exit. Highly recommend for couples to ride away in a vintage car to make that exit even more epic. 

Holly had her hair & makeup done for her wedding day at the Hay-Adams Hotel with a suite overlooking the White House. After getting all of her details set, we headed upstairs to the terrace, to have a special first look with her dad. Can you feel that love between this father and his daughter?! He totally made me cry–it was such a sweet moment between the two of them.

With a tie to family memories, the couple chose the Army Navy Country Club in Arlington Virginia as their reception site, and guests enjoyed the wonderful October weather with a view of Washington DC at sunset. The couples dog, although not able to make the trek from Texas, adorned their cocktail drinks as a custom stirrer. It’s those little details that make you stop and take it all in!  

Once the sun had set on the terrace, guests were ushered inside to the historic ballroom to get the celebration started. After heartfelt toasts, a perfectly choreographed first dance, and sampling of cake, the Bachelor Boys Band had the entire wedding party on the dance floor for the night.

Cowboy hats were flying, and it is safe to say, the Brits in the room were having a blast with the hats and the late night nacho bar, because whether from the UK, Virginia or DC, it was a taste of Texas for all.
