A springtime cherry blossom engagement session with the early morning light, and classic DC monument views.
Nothing beats a spring blossom engagement session with the famed Yoshino Cherry Blossoms at the Tidal Basin. It’s the perfect convergence of love and beauty, and sun rays hitting the tidal basin to show off the pastel snowing petals, that make waking up at such an early hour worth it.

Cherry Blossom photos are the #1 requested session I receive from every couple–and I LOVE IT! It truly is such a small window of time, and if timing works in our favor to do your session during peak bloom dates, happy dance all around! These slots go fast–and priority is given to those who have pre-booked an engagement or portrait session with me. Sessions are held only on weekdays, and typically only at sunrise (unless weather requires a schedule change), since weekend crowds can be unreal and impossible to photograph around.

I always keep a 2-week block of time on my calendar that is free for all the blossom schedules. Since scheduling can only begin the moment peak bloom dates are announced. Beginning on Valentine’s Day, I do a daily check on the Bloom Watch Forecast–the moment they put an estimated date in there, it’s go time for getting all my clients scheduled. party and family peeping through the door was pretty special too.

Wondering what to wear?
Once you book a session, you’ll receive a styling guide that will walk you through styling tips as you pick out what you’re going to wear! If there was ever a time to splurge on a flowy dress from Rent the Runway, this is it. It’ll make your photos look like a million bucks! 🙂

Want to avoid the crowds?
If you don’t want to get up at the crack of dawn for the Tidal Basin and the crowds, you’re in luck. I have a handful of favorite locations around DC for other spring blossoms, and you can still get your beauty sleep! One of those flowers that I keep on the radar, is the deeper pink (and highly photogenic) saucer magnolia blossoms that bloom in early March, as well as the Kwanzan cherry blossoms which bloom just slightly later than the Yoshino variety. I know a few secret locations that have my favorite type of European vibe to them, and I’m pretty certain you’ll agree. 😉
I book these out in the fall and early winter prior, so don’t wait to get on the waiting list for scheduling. Send me an email to get on the list.
